Designed in 1954 by one of Southern California’s most celebrated contemporary architectural partnerships Buff and Hensman. As in many of their houses the curb view is nearly hidden by site placement or landscaping. Here taking full advantage of the site the house is embraced by, a small, wooded arroyo with a natural flowing stream. Through simple lines, natural wood and glass they created a design that connects with its natural surroundings enhancing the experience of the interior and exterior spaces. In every room the sights and sounds of the stream and gardens can be experienced. The living room has an open beamed ceiling, a wide hearth fireplace and cork flooring. Glass doors lead to an inviting deck where the stream flows by and under a bridge that connects you to the lower gardens. The dining area and kitchen are open to one another with access to a deck. The master bedroom has an open beamed ceiling and access to a deck as well. The master bath has a wall of glass with vistas to a garden atrium and a sunken Roman tub. In addition there are two other bedrooms and a bath. Since 1969 the current owners have been honored to preserve this architectural gem with little change to the original design that Conrad Buff and Don Hensman had conceived. Features
